VERNON, BC –Buick, like most automakers these days, is refocusing its attention from passenger cars to SUVs. Buick is not content, however, simply to offer premium-level SUVs – it’s upping the ante with the addition of a new ultra-premium sub-brand, the Avenir. And it won’t be restricted just to SUVs.
This ultimate trim package is destined to be shared across nearly all of the Buick lineup, in a manner similar to GMC’s premium Denali package.
The Avenir name first appeared on a Buick concept car introduced to positive response at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
To demonstrate its game plan for production applications of the nameplate, Buick Canada revealed the new 2018 LaCrosse Avenir sedan during a media event held near Vernon, BC to introduce the all-new 2018 Enclave mid-size utility vehicle.
The Enclave and LaCrosse will both offer Avenir models, which share the same exclusive premium features that will be applied to other products as the trim package is extended across the lineup.
They include: a unique mesh-pattern grille, exclusive 20-inch aluminum wheels with a pearl-nickel finish, rear bright fascia trimm and chromed exhaust tips, special Avenir badging, illuminated sill plates, special exterior colours, including a signature ebony twilight metallic, exclusive interior trim with black and rich tan perforated leather upholstery and contrasting stitching and piping on specially embossed seats with thicker foam padding, premium faux wood accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel with wood insert, navigation, twin-panel sunroof, an eight-inch reconfigurable instrument cluster and inductive charging system for your cell phone. Whew!
An additional technology package ($2,475) adds adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation and braking, dynamic brake support, a premium suspension system and a continuously variable “real time” damping system for the chassis.
Buick anticipates the Enclave Avenir, which lists at $63,690 (including freight fees and air-conditioning tax) will account for 20% of Enclave sales in 2018.
