Mercedes-Benz Canada has revealed a starting price of $29,900 for the 2013 B 250, which arrives in dealerships across Canada in November.

It will feature a new, more powerful, but fuel-efficient, four-cylinder turbo engine, class-leading advanced safety systems and an impressive array of standard equipment, the company says.

The B-Class is a Canadian exclusive model within North America, as it is not sold south of the border.

"The success of the previous generation has demonstrated that this stylish, safe and comfortable vehicle is ideally suited to our savvy consumers," said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada.

"With the launch of the next generation B-Class later this year, we are introducing an even more versatile and compelling package while maintaining the key attributes that were integral to the vehicle’s success," he added

The all-new 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo engine in the next-generation 2013 B 250 is rated at 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque 1 a 55% power increase over the previous generation B 200 engine.

Also new is 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission that is said to combine the comfort of an automatic with the efficiency of a manual transmission.

Further fuel savings are achieved through the addition of an ECO start/stop function as standard equipment.

Being a Mercedes-Benz, the B-Class offers highest level of standard safety equipment ever available in its class, the company says. That equipment includes: Collision Prevention Assist (a sophisticated radar-based collision warning system that can identify the threat of a rear-end collision), 11 airbags, Adaptive Brake Assist with Hold function, Attention Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and BAS, rain sensing windshield wipers and run-flat tires.

The 2013 B 250 retains its predecessor's sporty design, spacious cargo compartment and its refined but practical interior, enhancing the overall package with a new appearance as well as class-leading power. Comfort and convenience features including Artico leather upholstery and a COMAND controller with free-standing integrated display.

The B-Class can also be customized with several option packages that include such features as 14-way front seats with three-position memory, a panoramic sunroof, Distronic Plus, COMAND APS with HDD Navigation and DVD Changer, as well as passive blind spot and lane keeping assist systems.

In addition, an advanced Parktronic with Active Parking Assist and a rear view camera are available as part of the Parking Assistance Package. This fully automatic system searches for suitable parking spaces via ultrasonic sensors, and can then take control of the steering wheel to quickly and accurately steer the vehicle in and out of a parking space.
