The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has announced the top three finalists for the overall 2014 Canadian Car of the Year and 2014 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, the winners of which will be revealed at the Canadian International Auto Show, in Toronto, on February 13.

The finalists for 2014 Canadian Car of the Year are:

> Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

> Mazda3

> Mazda6

The finalists for 2014 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year are:

> Acura MDX

> Jeep Cherokee

> Kia Sorento

The finalists were chosen from 12 category winners, determined at AJAC's annual TestFest and announced announced on December 3, 2013. Mazda won three of the 12 categories while General Motors and Kia each had double wins. The other category winners were Lexus, Infiniti, and Mercedes-Benz.

The vote results are based on a combination of objective data and evaluation by 80 journalists of 174 vehicles. Each journalist drove vehicles in individual categories, back-to-back on the same day, under the same conditions, on closed and public roads in order to cast their ballots.

More than 40,000 data points were compiled and analyzed by the international accounting firm KPMG to detrmine the category and overall winners.
