There’s a new racier Fiat 500 set to drive onto global roads, as Abarth has announced its newest 595 Pista.

The newest performance offering from the Italian customizer is endowed with more power (165 hp) thanks to a new larger Garrett turbocharger, reduced compression ratio (now 9:1, down from 9.8:1), optimized temperature in the combustion chamber, improved torque at lower revs (now 170 lb-ft peaking at 2250 rpm) and Record Monza Active exhaust. A sequential paddle-shift automatic handles power distribution.

Handling is also improved, with Koni rear suspension equipped with Frequency Selective Damping (FSD), which combines to enhance driving performance through better road grip, handling and stability. Braking is entrusted to vented 284-mm discs up front and 240-mm discs at the rear.

Cosmetic upgrades include a matte grey exterior with bright green details, and new seats and new upholstery. The interior also includes sport touches like a flat-bottom steering wheel with a centering mark up top, Sport button to adjust peak torque output, steering settings and throttle response.

Connectivity is up to modern standards, with the ability to handle Android Auto and Apple CarPlay through the Fiat Chrysler Uconnect system’s 7-inch HD touchscreen. Digital radio is also part of the infotainment package.

It isn’t yet known if the new Abarth 595 Pista will be available in North America, or what a price range might be. The car is destined for distribution toward the end of September 2019.
