2019 Fiat 500X

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced its all-new Fiat 500X for 2019 will have its public debut at next week’s Los Angeles Auto Show.

An evolution of the current design, the 2019 Fiat 500X gets revised front and rear fasciae, LED lights front and rear, and an extensive list of safety and security features, including adaptive cruise and front parking assist. It has available new colours (Italia Blue, Vibrante Green, Milano Ivory) and rides on standard 17-inch wheels, with the option to enhance them or move up to 18-inchers.

“Our new Italian-designed, fun-to-drive 2019 Fiat 500X comes standard with an all-new, fuel-efficient 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that generates best-in-class torque,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT. “The new 2019 Fiat 500X also features standard all-wheel-drive capability tailored to handle multiple climates and road conditions.”

The engine is the latest MultiAir iteration (MultiAir III) of the 1.3-litre turbo 4-cylinder, now making 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque, thanks to valve-actuation technology. Controlled by a 9-speed automatic, the engine also has stop/start feature. It’s linked to an all-wheel drive system with a disconnecting rear axle, all of which adds up to improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

It also includes Fiat’s Dynamic Selector System, allowing the driver to tailor driving performance through three modes — Auto (the default mode calibrated for everyday driving to deliver optimal fuel efficiency and driving comfort), Sport (a sportier feel through adjustments to steering, stability control and lateral dynamics), and Traction + (for low-speed traction, specially-tuned chassis controls and more direct engine response).

Inside, there’s room for five on premium new fabric upholstery, surrounded by advancements in technology, such as Uconnect 4 (including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, streaming audio and voice commands) through a 7-inch touchscreen.

The new steering wheel is done up in Techno-leather, and stocked with the usual array of redundant controls. Other necessary controls are located within arm’s reach, and the traditional ergonomic appointments, such as well-located armrests, add to a comfortable and relaxed seating position.
