Aston Martin is replacing its four-door Rapide luxury GT with a new Rapide S model that both more powerful and more luxurious.
It features a new front-end look with a larger, more-aggressive grille that may preview the styling direction for other Aston Martins, as well as a new rear deck profile with a more-pronounced deck-lid lip.
Getting it there is an upgraded version of AM's naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V-12 engine, with a 17% bump in power output, to 550 horsepower, and 457 lb-ft of torque.
The company says there's also a big increase in torque in the lower rev range, giving the engine more pulling power. Acceleration from 0-to-100 km/h is said to take just 4.9 seconds.
The engine also sits lower in the car, lowering the centre-of-gravity and improving turn-in feel. An Adaptive Damping System (ADS) offers three settings – ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ – to help the suspension setup to suit the driver’s needs.
A broad range of options enables customers to personalize both exterior and interior appointments to enhance either the luxury or sporting nature of the Rapide S.
The new model will be available to order through the brand’s 146 dealers worldwide next month with prices confirmed closer to the on-sale date.
