Audi Canada is expanding its 2013 product portfolio with the addition of three new S-models – the S6, S7 and S8.
They made their Canadian debut at the opening of the all-new Audi Lauzon Terminal dealership in Laval, Quebec.
All three models will be powered by Audi's new 4.0 TFSI (turbocharged and direct-injected) V-8 engine, rated at 420 horsepower in the S6 and S7and 520 hp in the S8.
In the S6 and S7, the engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission, while the S8 is fitted with an eight-speed tiptronic.
Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel drive delivers power to all wheels, and a rear sports differential helps maintain corner prowess.
The engine also features feature 'cylinder on demand' technology that allows it to reduce the number of cylinders in operation from eight to four, under light loads, to help reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
The transition from eight to four cylinders takes less than four hundred-thousandths (0.0004) of a second, Audi says, so as to be imperceptible to the driver.
A sport-tuned Audi adaptive air suspension is said to give all three S models exceptional sport-like handling.
Both the S6 and S7 feature valcona leather, 'S'-embossed front seats and brushed aluminum inlays, while the S8 comes with comfort front sport seats and carbon atlas interior trim. All S models have S-labeled door sills and aluminum pedals.
Brushed aluminum mirror housings and S badging identify the cars apart on the outside, as do more aggressively styled front bumpers.
The S6, S7 and S8 will be available in Canada in October, with starting prices of $82,300, $89,300 and $130,000 respectively.
