Pending the arrival of its production electric e-tron SUV, Audi is ramping up the excitement with the unveiling of an electric supercar concept, appropriately enough on the racetrack at Laguna Seca as part of the Pebble Beach Concours weekend at the end of August.

The unveil will take place on the track on August 23, the eve of The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering, which kicks off the weekend at Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California.
Conceived and designed at Malibu’s Audi Design Loft, the concept car has been designated Audi PB 18 e-tron, with the PB 18 standing for Pebble Beach 2018, though it also is a partial homage to the Le Mans-winning R18 e-tron quattro racecar.

The concept is meant to convey the purist form of a future supercar, with the powerful electric drive providing ample power without the emissions associated with ultra-performance cars, while the sleek exterior shell plays on the emotions of viewers and drivers alike.
No details were released about the car, but the darkened teaser image has the looks of a Le Mans prototype, with bulging fenders, squat cabin and a large rear spoiler, seemingly taking some cues from the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo that was developed for the video game but ended up being adapted for the road. The R18 e-tron was a diesel/electric hybrid, though the supercar is dedicated electric.
