A Batman-inspired Kia Optima is going on display this week at the Time Warner Center in New York City. Really!
The 'Batoptima' is said to be the first of eight customized Kias marking the beginning of a 10-month partnership between Kia (US), DC Entertainment and RIDES magazine, based on the comic-book characters that make up the 'Justice League'.
Other DC Comics heroes include Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash.
It's all supposed to raise awareness of DC Entertainment's "We Can Be Heroes" campaign, which is a relief effort to fight hunger in the the Horn of Africa.
Working together, Kia, DC Entertainment and RIDES magazine designed and built the Batman-themed Optima. It features a matte- and piano-black exterior paint scheme, a lowered coil-over suspension, ground-effects kit, Ksport performance brakes, custom-designed 20-inch black wheels and a performance exhaust system.
Other modifications include a custom front grille shaped like a batwing, yellow LED lighting accents throughout the vehicle and the iconic bat signal etched into the HID headlights.
Inside, the seating surfaces are costumed in custom black leather and suede with yellow accent stitching. And there's a Bat suit and cowl mounted in the trunk and utility throwing stars installed in the centre console.
