The U.S.-based Green Car Journal announced the winner of its 2015 Green Car of the Year award at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
No great surprise, the winner is the BMW i3. Earlier this year, the i3 won the World Green Car award, as well as the World Car Design of the Year, which were presented at the New York International Auto Show.
Other finalists for this year's Green Journal award were the Audi A3 TDI, Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel, Honda Fit and Volkswagen Golf.
The i3's win was attributed to its innovative lightweight design and the high percentage of sustainably produced materials used in its manufacture.
The Green Car Journal has presented its annual Green Car award for the past ten years. Previous winners were the Honda Accord Hybrid/Plug-In Hybrid (2014), Ford Fusion Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid (2013), Honda Civic Natural Gas (2012) and Chevrolet Volt (2011).
