Karma has enlisted the help of BMW to boost the performance of its upcoming 2020 Revero, due in showrooms in the second half of 2019.
Building on an agreement dating back to 2015, BMW has agreed to supply the second-generation Revero with a TwinPower turbo 3-cylinder engine (likely the 1.5-litre gasoline unit) to power the onboard generator for the newly-designed, more powerful high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack and the new twin-motor read drive module. The current Revero uses GM’s 2.0-litre Ecotec engine.
The end result is 0-100 km/h times in under five seconds, beating its predecessor by a full second.
“We created a world-class electric vehicle drive system that delivers the performance and packaging requirements of the new Revero,” said Bob Kruse, Karma’s Chief Technology Officer. “Alongside a series of other technological advancements, the new 2020 Revero is as fast as it looks.”
BMW started working with Karma in 2015 to help develop the onboard generator systems
“BMW AG is a natural fit for Karma’s luxury-tech focus because it is a proven technology leader renowned for conceiving and delivering ground-breaking innovations,” Kruse said.
More information on the new 2020 Revero will be available when the car is introduced at Auto Shanghai in mid-April. It is due in showrooms in the second half of 2019.
