Honda has released a preliminary image of its refreshed 2015 CR-V, which will go on sale this fall.

The CR-V is the best-selling crossover utility vehicle in the U.S. Here in Canada, it's in a consistently tight battle with the Toyota RAV4 for second place, well behind the class leading Ford Escape.

A all-new CR-V was last introduced in model year 2012. Last year, the current CR-V was named the top small SUV by Consumer Reports.

Beyond the photo, Honda has released little information about the updated CR-V, except to say that its bold and aggressive new appearance portends significant enhancements made to the vehicle. Rumours suggest it may get its own version of the Accord's more refined 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine.

More complete information on the refreshed CR-V will be released on September 30.
