Cadillac is adding a bit mort sport to its full-sized sport utility, with the introduction of a black-accented Sport Edition for the 2019 Escalade, the first-ever special edition for the award-winning luxury model.

Distinguished by gloss black exterior trim on grilles, window mouldings and body side mouldings, and riding on unique Midnight Silver 22-inch wheels, the Sport Edition will be available on Luxury, Premium Luxury and Platinum models.

“Two decades after its introduction, Escalade remains the segment’s benchmark and sales leader,” said Steve Carlisle, Cadillac president. “The Sport Edition extends that momentum in response to customer and dealer demand for a dark and aggressive look.”

As with all Escalades, power comes from the 420-hp 6.2-litre V-8, sending power to rear or all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic. Zero to 100 km/h sprints can go by as quickly as six seconds, depending on the vehicle configuration. Ride and handling are enhanced through the magnetic ride control system with three driver-selectable modes.

Inside, the Sport Edition features all the Escalade amenities, including Cadillac’s user experience system (sound, navigation and connectivity), heated leather and wood steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, 12.3-inch instrument cluster high-res display screen, heated second-row bucket seats, fold-flat second- and third-row seats, power-folding third-row seats, and Bose Centerpoint audio system with 16 speakers.

Parking assist makes the behemoth easier to fit into a space, and a hands-free tailgate makes it easier to load up when arms are full.

The package will be available for ordering in the first quarter of 2019.
