Nissan has chosen Christian Meunier, currently the president of Nissan Brazil, to become the new president of Nissan Canada when Allen Childs retires, effective January 1, 2013. Canada is Nissan's third-largest market in the Americas.

In Brazil, Meunier has overseen a significant expansion of Nissan's dealer network, as well as increased market share. Nissan was Brazil's fastest-growing brand last year.

Childs' career with Nissan has spanned two decades, during which he held positions in regional operations, dealer operations, parts and service and marketing. In 2002, he became vice president, Nissan Canada sales.

In 2006 he returned to Nissan North America (NNA) as vice-president, parts and service, before returning as president of Nissan Canada in 2010. During his tenure here, Childs led activities to improve performance of the dealer network.

Nissan's market share held relatively stable, around 4.8% during 2010 and 2011, but has fallen to 4.5% through the first three quarters of 2012.
