Dodge adds Aero model

and impresses the IIHS besides

2013 Dodge Dart

Dodge has announced the addition of a 1.4-litre turbo-charged Aero Model to the 2013 Dart lineup, with a starting price of just $19,795.

The Aero Model will get up to 4.8 L/100 km/hour from the award-winning Fiat 1.4-litre MultiAir intercooled turbo mill, delivering 184 lb.-ft. of torque. It's mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission. Futher aerodynamic enhancements include lightweight aluminum chassis components, active grille shutters, underbody aero kit, lowered profile and low-rolling-resistance tires.

Standard features include 10 airbags and electronic stability control, which helped it earn a Top Safety Pick status from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. Also standard are cruise, auto headlamps, air with micron filter, remote keyless entry, and leather-wrapped steeering wheel with audio controls.

A class-exclusive 8.4-inch touchscreen media centre is avialable on the Dodge Dart Aero.

The retro-named Dart is proving popular with buyers, who drove sales up 43% month over month in September.
