The Victoria Day weekend marks the unofficial opening of the racing season at historic racetracks, and England’s Brands Hatch will see the start of the Ferrari Challenge series in the UK and, with it, the public debut of the Ferrari F8 Tributo,
As the name implies, the F8 Tributo 2-seat berlinetta pays homage to the most powerful V-8 engine in Ferrari history — the 710-hp 3.9-litre twin-turbo V-8 used in the 488 Pista, the homologated version of the racecar used in the Ferrari Challenge — becoming the most powerful V-8 ever mounted in a non-special series Ferrari.
The engine was recognized as Best Engine at the International Engine of the Year awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Among its praised characteristics are practically indiscernible turbo lag and an evocative engine note.
Using a 7-speed dual clutch automatic, the new mid-rear-engine 2-seater has performance claims of 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7.6 seconds, and a top speed of 340 km/h. But that isn’t the entire story, though, with a reported improvement of 15% in aerodynamics (also derived from the track) and driving aids such as Side Slip Angle Control and the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer making the car also an exceptional handler.
