Carroll Shelby at CIAS Tribute - 2010

The Gardena, Calif., headquarters of the Carroll Shelby Foundation will serve as venue for the first annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show, put on by the Los Angeles American Automobile Club on May 11, 2013. The date marks the first anniversary of this auto industry legend.

Featuring a Ford and Shelby car show, awards ceremony, panel discussion led by Rick Titus, a Texas-style chili bar, special guests and an engine rev salute, the show will benefit the Foundation.

“Carroll Shelby changed the course of history and touched millions of lives through his racing, his companies and his charity,” said Randy Richards, LASAAC president. “He challenged us to honor his legacy by continuing his work. This annual event will be a celebration for everyone who shares Carroll’s passion for performance and pursuit of excellence, while also supporting causes he truly believed in.”

Gates open at 10 a.m. at 19021 S. Figueroa St., Gardena; admission is free but a donation to the Foundation is encouraged; a $10 donation receives a s how decal. Owners can show their own cars for a $20 donation.

Last year, a rev salute at the Petersen Automotive Museum was a big success, so enthusiasts are encouraged once again to participate by joining Shelby fans across the globe at 1 p.m. PDT.

“We’re so excited to share this tribute of an American legend with all of the Shelby and automotive fans around the world,” said Jenni Shreeves, Executive Director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “Carroll genuinely valued the people who admired and owned his cars. Giving them a chance to be a part of the ‘Rev Your Engine’ salute around the world is truly what he would want.”

Racers Don Prudhomme, John Morten, and Alan Grant will join facilitator Titus at a panel discussion, and throughout the day, exclusive Shelby Legacy Collection Items will be for sales, with proceeds benefitting the foundation, as well as Selby-branded apparel.
