Ford is recalling just under 100 compact crossovers to address a problem with brake hoses that could result in a loss of brake fluid and resultant braking ability.
The recall affects 2018 Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC built on the last couple days of October 2017. Though Ford is not aware of any incidents related to the issue, there is a chance that the vehicles in question might lose their braking ability, because of incorrect front brake jounce hoses that could wear prematurely under normal use as a result of contact with surrounding components.
The excessive and premature wear could lead to a loss of brake fluid, which would impact the ability of the driver to brake the vehicle in a timely fashion and within a reasonable distance. Dealerships will inspect the front brake jounce hoses and replace as necessary.
Of the 92 vehicles being recalled in North America, four are in Canada, while the rest are in the US and its federalized territories.
