Ford of Canada has announced new warranty terms covering repair parts and accessories and engine and transmission assemblies.
The new parts and accessories warranty provides unlimited distance coverage for 24 months from time of purchase or installation, including parts and labour for most repairs completed at a Ford or Ford Lincoln dealership.
Previous coverage for parts and accessories was 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever came first.
In addition, warranty coverage for new and remanufactured gasoline engines and transmission assemblies becomes 36 months with unlimited distance.
Previous coverage for those assemblies was 24 months or 40,000 km, whichever came first.
The new warranties take effect on February 1, 2014.
They apply to Genuine Ford and Motorcraft service parts and Ford Genuine Accessories.
As part of the coverage, Ford will also provide vehicle owners with towing reimbursement for repairs completed at a Ford or Ford Lincoln dealership.
The warranty includes up to $150 labour coverage for fleets and commercial installers completing the repairs. In the case of do-it-yourself customers who choose to install a part themselves, the warranty covers the cost of the replacement part but not the labour.
"By strengthening our warranties we’re not only adding value, we’re also delivering on our commitment to continually enhance our service experience and go further for our customers in all areas of our business," said Peter Stoddart, marketing plans manager, parts and services, Ford of Canada.
