With US Thanksgiving just around the corner, Ford is urging travelers to skip past the planes and trains and stick with the automobile … most specifically the all-new 2018 mammoth-sized Expedition, pointing to its first-class seating and relaxation room in all three rows, with plenty of room on-board to stow your luggage.
Staying connected in Expedition is easy, with USB charge ports at each row, and a 4G modem creating a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices. Plus, available Sling Media entertainment system streams in sports games, films or television shows, with audio provided through an optional 12-speaker Bang & Olsen sound system.
A cargo management system for the cargo hold makes it easy to play Tetris loading up deep, tall, wide and awkward-shaped luggage. Smaller carry-on bags can be loaded up top, where they’re easily accessible through the flip up hatch door window, while larger items or those that you want to keep hidden from prying eyes ride underneath.
And, the Detroit company is also pointing out that the Expedition 4x2 has best-in-class fuel economy — 9.8 L/100 km on the highway, 13.8 in the city and 11.8 combined — thanks to its aluminum construction, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V-6 and an all-new 10-speed automatic. The 4x4 returns 10.7, 13.8 and 12.4, respectively. It all translates to a driving range of 866 km, with the 106-litre fuel tank.
“The all-new Expedition fits eight people comfortably and can carry all of their luggage, while keeping everyone connected and entertained. It’s really the ultimate road trip vehicle,” said Todd Hoevener, Ford Expedition chief engineer, who has reportedly committed to drive his family (including two 6-foot-something sons) from Michigan to Clearwater, Florida, for Christmas.
The 2018 Ford Expedition is in dealers this fall, with the kicker being that it also tows up to 4,218 kg, when properly equipped.
