Ford is recalling the new EcoSport and medium-duty F-Series trucks in a couple small recalls to address brake system issues.
The first involves the new 2018 EcoSport sub-compact crossover, affecting 273 vehicles with incorrect brake fluid reservoir caps and European owner’s manuals. All the vehicles reside south of the border and are not believed to have resulted in any incidents or injuries.
Dealers will replace the brake fluid reservoir caps and provide the US-spec owner’s manual.
The second recall involves 2018 F-650 and F-750 trucks, which might have parking brakes with inadequately-tension cables. It affects 151 vehicles, also all in the US.
Ford reports the affected vehicles may have reduced parking brake performance, which could lead to vehicle movement. If left unattended, it could result in the vehicle rolling away and causing damage, though Ford is not aware of any incidents or injuries.
Dealers will adjust the parking brake cable to the proper tension, but until a repair can be executed, advises owners before leaving the vehicle unattended to make sure the automatic transmission is secured in Park or the wheels are chocked on manual models.
