Editors of the men's fashion and culture magazine Esquire have named the Cadillac ATS its 2012 Esquire Car of the Year. The choice will be featured in issues of the magazine hitting the stands Sept. 18.

Editor-in-chief called the ATS "an exciting new chapter" in the process of the auto industry's reasserting itself over the last couple of years, and a "balls to the wall effort at reinvention."

The October digital edition will also feature a long-form feature documenting the making of the ATS.

The compact sport sedan is offered in rear- and all-wheel-drive versions with a choice of four- and six-cylinder powertrains. The new ATS made its debut to television and online viewers during the summer Olympics.
