Infiniti's Emerg-e concept has been awarded an Automotive Brand Award for 2012 by the German Design Council in the "Concepts" category. The Emerg-e made is the brand's first extended-range, mid-engine, electric sports car concept, and debuted in Geneva earlier this year.

A fully functioning prototype of the Emerg-e appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. The concept is the first Infiniti to be developed in Europe.

Peter Schreyer's Kias took several awards as well, including the newly launched Cee'd, which took the exterior category and an honorary mention for exceptional interior innovation.

The juried awards, which recognize excellence and innovation in product design, will be presented in a ceremony at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris in September.
