Miata 25 anniversary microsite

If you're quick and lucky, you can be among the 100 proud owners of the imminent 2015 MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition. Mazda has launched a microsite as part of its pre-order program for the limited-edition roadster.

Originally launched in 1989 (MY1990) and widely credited with the resurgence in popularity of the roadster style, the MX-5 Miata's anniversary web portal will feature a countdown clock to 10:25 a.m. PDT on May 20, 2014, when the pre-order system officially launches for those interested in lining up to own one of the anniversary editions to be released by Mazda North American Operations.

"Twenty-five years after the vehicle was introduced, the MX-5 continues to be the benchmark for light, responsive and fun-to-drive roadsters," said MNAO president and CEO Jim O'Sullivan. "It is the genesis from which every Mazda since has been born. With the fourth generation MX-5 on the horizon, we look forward to reinventing the segment once again."

When the site opens, prospective buyers will complete a registration form and select their choice of transmission and dealership location. The first 100 verified registrants will then have the opportunity to pre-order the anniversary model. The program will run until May 31 or 250 registrants, whichever comes first.

Each limited-edition owner will get a Tourneau watch with display winder box, a Swiss-made, stainless steel sport watch with black leather strap and contrasting red stitching. The watch and display set will feature MX-5 and anniversary logos.

The anniversary model will feature hand-selected pistons for a more free-revving engine, a deep Soul Red metallic exterior with Brilliant Black A-pillars, windshield surround, outside mirrors and standard PRHT. Aluminum alloy wheels are Dark Gunmetal. The interior is in exclusive Almond leather, with satin chrome finish on the louver rings, gauge cluster and inner door handles. Red stitching appears on all soft touch points. A hand-painted Piano Black and red decorative instrument panel add a little extra somethin'.

Special badging appears etched into the headrests and door scuff plates, and a single anniversary badge will be mounted onto the driver's side front fender. Starting price is $32,205 US. Canadians will get their shot too, at $40,925; Canucks can register for more information at
