GM teases new Colorado, Canyon pickups

New mid-size Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks scheduled to start production in 2015

General Motors has released a teaser photo of the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size pickups for North America.

GM's executive vice ipresident and chief financial officer, Dan Ammann, "leaked" the photo at the annual CAR (Center for Automotive Research) Management Briefing Seminars held in Traverse City, Michigan this week.

Designed to be capable, versatile and fuel-efficient alternatives to full-size pickups, the new Colorado and Canyon are scheduled to start production at GM’s Wentzville, Missouri assembly plant in 2015.

Production of the last-generation models was terminated in August of 2012.

The new models will be based on a global mid-size truck architecture developed by GM do Brasil, tailored locally to suit the individual regional markets where it will be sold.
