First 2013 Honda Fit EV

American Honda Motor Co. delivered the very first all-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV to Ventura County, California, couple Matt and Becky Walton, the next in Honda's ever-growing portfolio of green vehicles. The Fit EV gets an Environmental Protection Agency rating of 118 MPGe, the equivalent of about 2 L/100 km. Its electric power consumption rating is an all-time-low 29 kWh per 100 miles (160 km).

The couple became the first Fit EV owners by being first to register to lease one on the FitEV.Honda.com website. They are long-time Honda owners, starting with an N600 sedan and Z600 coupe in the '70s, and now own an Odyssey they plan to keep as a second vehicle.

Matt Walton said that the Fit EV was not only sustainable but had the "added bonus of being fun to drive" and can fully recharge from empty in less than three hours. They are paying $389 US/month over a three-year term, for an MSRP of $36,625 US.

Honda said it would licence select Honda dealers in California and Oregon as the first Fit EV dealers. They will expand availability eastward starting early next year.
