Hyundai Canada has revealed that the all-new 5-passenger 2013 Santa Fe mid-size SUV will carry the same starting price as its predecessor, $26,499, when it arrives in dealerships next month.
The new Santa Fe will initially be launched in 5-passenger form, with a choice of two Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) four-cylinder engines. No V-6 is offered in that configuration.
All 5-passenger Santa Fe models will be designated "Sport" to differentiate them from a long-wheelbase 7-passenger model, powered by a 3.3-litre GDI V-6 engine, which will arrive early in 2013.
The Santa Fe Sport features three trim levels for each of the two available engines – six different models and price points in all..
The base level Santa Fe Sport 2.4 is powered by a 2.4-litre Theta II GDI four-cylinder engine rated at 190 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque – that's 15 more horsepower, 12 lb-ft more torque, and 12% better fuel economy than the outgoing 2.4-litre engine.
Fuel consumption is rated at 9.5 L/100 km City, 6.0 L/100 km Highway (FWD model).
It comes equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, air conditioning, Bluetooth, Hyundai’s Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM) system, seven airbags, and factory-installed trailer pre-wiring, to name just some of its many features.
For $28,299, the 2.4 Premium model adds a 12-way power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, rear door blinds, rear park assist sensors, and more.
An advanced active All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system with Active Cornering Control (ACC) can be selected as a $2,000 option.
At $33,899, the 2.4 Luxury model includes standard AWD and adds features such as leather seating, power passenger seat, panoramic sunroof, rear-view camera, HID headlights, and sliding second row seats.
The 2013 Santa Fe Sport is also available with a 2.0-litre Theta II turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine producing 264 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. That a torque increase of 21 lb-ft, compared to the previous 3.5-litre V-6 engine.
Fuel consumption is rated at 9.8 L/100 km City, 6.4 L/100 km Highway (FWD - model) – a reduction of 8% from the earlier V-6.
Starting at $30,499, the 2.0T Premium model includes all the equipment from the 2.4 Premium and adds proximity keyless entry with push-button ignition, a transmission cooler, and a supervision gauge cluster with high-resolution TFT LCD display. Advanced active AWD with ACC is available as a $2,000 option.
The $35,299 2.0T SE model comes standard with AWD and adds features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, leather seating, panoramic sunroof, Infinity premium audio system, and rear-view camera, among others.
For $38,499, the range-topping 2.0T Limited incorporates an 8-inch touch-screen navigation system, HID headlights, ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink, and more.
