The Indycars are back in the streets of Hogtown this weekend for the annual Honda Indy Toronto race – this year with a big difference.

Dubbed 2-in-TO, the weekend extravaganza will comprise two full, separate races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Qualifying for the first race took place today, with veteran driver Dario Franchitti claiming pole position and Sebastian Bourdais in second place. Both drivers are former winners in Toronto and they'll start side by side on row one tomorrow.

Will Power and this year's Indy 500 winner, Tony Kanaan, will make up the second row, followed by James Jakes and Franchitti's team-mate, Scott Dixon.

The two Canadian drivers in the race, James Hinchcliffe and Alex Tagliani, will start from 14th and 17th positions, respectively.

Tag's best qualifying lap was actually faster than Hinch's but he'll start further back because of the peculiarities of the qualifying system, by which position within a qualifying group rather than lap time determines the grid position.

Toronto's race will feature a standing start, rather than the usual rolling start, for the first time this year.

A second round of qualifying, for the Sunday race, will take place Saturday morning.

Both races are scheduled to start at 3:40 PM.
