Infiniti will be unveiling it’s all new QX50 compact SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and has released the latest teaser image that provides a good look at the exterior, which isn’t too far removed from the QX50 concept unveiled in Detroit at the beginning of the year.
The vehicle is the new generation of the crossover that started life as the Infiniti EX35 10 years ago, and was renamed according to Infiniti’s new nomenclature in 2013.
What we know about the 2019 QX50 is that it will be built on an all new platform, using a front engine/front-wheel drive configuration (with an option for all-wheel drive). The engine is a variable compression (a first on a production vehicle) turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, which uses a multi-link system to vary the reach of the pistons, and hence the compression ratio (from 8:1 to 14:1, depending on the driving demands for power or efficiency, respectively).
The exterior look is unmistakably Infiniti, with the familiar Powerful Elegance cues seen in recently introduced cars and SUVs from the brand. Similarly, the interior features the expected high-quality materials and advanced craftsmanship, resulting in a comfortable, flexible cabin.
And to top it off, the QX50 also uses the ProPilot autonomous drive support for highway driving, offering acceleration, braking and steering functions in single lane scenarios (meaning it doesn’t have the advanced functions of lane changing or merging.
More information, such as specs, dimensions, equipment lists, prices and delivery dates are expected when the vehicle is unveiled in Los Angeles in the coming week.
