Introduced last year, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 performance sedan is Jaguar’s most powerful street-legal car. Unfortunately, there were 300 made. Now, Jaguar is introducing a more restrained collector’s edition Project 8.
The Touring specification of the XE SV Project 8 is recognized by subdued exterior paint job and a discreet fixed spoiler, replacing the Project 8’s adjustable carbon fibre rear aerodynamic wing. It will still use the 592-hp 5.0-litre supercharged V-8, which will help it accelerate to 100 km/h in about 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of just 300 km/h (the “regular” car does 322 km/h).
“Project 8 has received outstanding critical acclaim since its launch, demonstrating the Special Vehicle Operations team’s ability to create a compact Jaguar sedan with supercar-rivalling performance,” said Jamal Hameedi, Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Engineering Director. “Touring specification extends the appeal of Project 8 to performance car enthusiasts and collectors who prefer a more discreet appearance, without compromising its driver-focused on-road dynamics.”
Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations will hand-produce the Touring specification (as it did the 300 editions of the original), making just 15 cars (making it the most exclusive. Buyers will have a choice of exterior colours (Valencia Orange, Velocity Blue, Corris Grey Satin and British Racing Green) and can choose to go with the decals of the original, as an option.
