Jaguar CX-17 Concept teaser

Jaguar says its C-X17 Concept Study, which will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show next week, illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using its new advanced modular aluminum architecture.

It will be the first vehicle shown that employs this architecture, which is expected to become the basis for a new smaller Jaguar sedan intended to do battle directly with the BMW 3 Series.

From the teaser photo provided, it appears that the C-X17 is either a station wagon or a CUV (crossover utility vehicle), which also lends credence to long-standing rumours that Jaguar is set to enter the utility vehicle market as well, its Land Rover siblings notwithstanding.

We'll know for sure on September 9, the eve of the auto show opening, when Jaguar will pre-reveal the C-X17 to the media.
