To mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Europe, Ford decided to create a tribute to the P-51 Mustang fighter, and now luxury electric carmaker Karma is following suit with a pre-production Revero GT wrapped in the iconic fighter’s paint scheme.
Embarking on the 4,828-km goldRush Rally GR ELEVEN, The Next Chapter, the two cars will wear the distinct red, yellow, grey and silver paint schemes of the legendary P-51 Mustang fighters to which many attribute Allied air superiority in the skies over Europe in 1944. The 9-day rally starts in Miami, heading north to Chicago and then back south to finish off in Austin, Texas.
Karma shares southern-California roots with the fighter, which was built by North American Aviation in Inglewood, California (about 65 km north west of Karma’s home in Irvine, both in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area).
Karma says the Revero GT shares design objectives with the P-51 Mustang, most notably increased speed and extended range over its contemporaries. The Revero GT reportedly does zero to 100 km/h in less than five seconds (about a second faster than its predecessor) with a range of 580 km, thanks to an onboard generator powered by a BMW turbocharged 3-cylinder.
