Kia Niro concept car

Kia previously announced plans to introduce a new European-designed concept car at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Now we can show you what it really looks like, beyond just a teaser photo.

Called the Kia Niro, it is said to hint at a possible future B-segment (sub-compact) contender designed for the urban environment. Kia says it also will preview an innovative new powertrain when it is revealed on September 10.

The car was designed at Kia’s Frankfurt design studio, "with European tastes and expectations very much in mind," under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, Kia's chief designer in Europe.

The Niro is said to be born out of Kia’s determination to seek new (sub-)compact-car options for the individualistic and demanding driver for whom size is an issue, and to feature elements not always associated with smaller cars.

Kia says it will be used to gauge potential customer response for future showroom models.
