Land Rover is commemorating the birth of the iconic sport-utility vehicle with a sanctioned hard-cover picture book appropriately titled Icon, which details the 69-year life of Series and Defender models.

The book announcement comes on the precise day the original Land Rover debuted at the Amsterdam Motor Show — April 30, 1948 — and will be on shelves in July, with potential purchasers able to get more information at shop.landrover.com/uk/icon-official-land-rover-book-51legf281naa.
The 200-page, 10-chapter hardback features previously unseen images and artwork, and unpublished interviews to craft a definitive volume of the expeditions, adventures and projects of the legendary 4x4. Former Top Gear host and current Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond, himself a Land Rover owner, wrote the foreword.

The history of the renowned off-roader is detailed in first-hand accounts and exclusive interviews with company executives, production-line employees and significant customers, including Royalty, politicians and celebrities such as actress Joanna Lumley, adventurer Bear Grylls, fashion icon Ralph Lauren and South African rugby player John Smit.
The collector’s item will be available online at the official Land Rover shop, and at selected showrooms and Experience Centres.
