Toyota is recalling about 575 Lexus ES sedans from 2019 Model Year over an improperly installed driver’s knee airbag.
The issue reportedly happened during vehicle assembly, resulting in the airbag’s not being properly installed to the point that a deployment might cause injury to the driver. Of the 573 cars under recall, 560 are in the US and just 13 in Canada.
Lexus will notify affected owners by mail toward the end of April 2019, requesting a return to a dealership, where the assembly of the knee bag will be inspected and the entire assembly replaced with a new unit, if necessary.
Customers can check the status of their vehicles by visiting lexus.ca/recall or by calling Lexus Customer Service at (800) 265-3987.
