2013 Lexus LS

Lexus this week unveiled its new 2013 LS model range, including the LS 460,all-new F-Sport and LS 600h, the world's most powerful full-hybrid V8.

Lexus says its new flagship incorporates "powerful" new styling features including the marque's spindle grille design, that now reflects a bold new design direction for the brand. A Lexus first, it can be equipped with all-LED exterior lighting, including vertical foglamps with the world's smallest PES lens.

Lexus promises a "significant" improvement in driving dynamics, responsiveness and agility thanks to improved rigidity and stability via  new laser screw welding and adhesive body bonding techniques. Steering is revised for better accuracy and turn-in response, and brakes enhanced for better pedal feel and immediate power. A new Drive Mode Select system features up to five selectable modes: Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport S and Sport S+.

The all-new F-Sport package offers a more aggressive exterior and interior design with a lower ride height, Brembo six-pot caliper front brakes, and paddle shifters. RWD LS 460 models get a Torsen limited slip differential and paddle shift incorporating automatic throttle blipping on downshifts. The F-Sport package also adds an intake sound creator to the engine which amplifies the vibration of the intake pulse and introduces it into the cabin.

Comprehensive improvements to engine, road, and wind noise sound isolation and Lexus-first hollow chamber noise reduction wheels make the sedan "amongst the quietest, most comfortable" in the world.

Over the last 23 years and four generations, Lexus has sold more than 730,000 LS's.
