2013 Bentley Continental - Power on Ice

If you're looking for the ultimate winter driving experience to hone your foul-weather driving skills, and want to be treated like royalty in the process, Bentley may have just your cup-of-tea.

In February 2013, Bentley's 'Power on Ice' winter driving program returns to the frozen lakes of northern Finland, offering existing owners, enthusiasts and aspiring drivers the chance to explore the extreme limits of the Continental GT on snow and ice.

With an all-wheel-drive system that offers reassuring driveability in all conditions, the company says, the Bentley Continental GT is the ideal Grand Tourer to take on the challenge posed by driving in snowy and icy conditions.

Program participants will have the opportunity to explore a range of driving techniques under the tutelage be of a team of expert instructors, led by Finnish rally star and four-time World Rally champion, Juha Kankkunen.

Kankkunen is an established expert at driving Bentleys on ice, having broken his own Ice Speed Record, in February 2011, drivinga Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible to 330 km/h (205 mph) on the frozen Baltic Sea off the coast of Finland.

"The opportunity to once again drive the Continental GT around our famous ice tracks is one I can’t resist," says Kankkunen. " The huge power combined with all-wheel-drive and the new eight-speed gearbox makes the GT the perfect car for such exciting and engaging driving."

He continued, "Our customers are always amazed that their cars are so rewarding to drive at the limit of grip, and it’s my pleasure to teach them how to do it!"

The program begins with guests being flown to the town of Kuusamo on a private charter, then driven to the exclusive ski resort of Ruka, just 60 km from the edge of the Arctic Circle, where they'll stay at the luxury Chalet Ruka Peak boutique hotel.

The two-day program focuses on driving both the V-8 and W-12 versions of the all-wheel-drive Continental GT on the smooth ice of the local lakes, on tracks specially prepared by Bentley’s winter driving team.

As well as the driving opportunities, guests will have the chance to enjoy such Nordic activities as snowmobiling, a night-time husky sled safari, traditional Finnish smoke saunas and dinner at a historic reindeer farm.

Bentley's Power on Ice programme runs from February 7th-through-28th, 2013. Prices start at 9,990 Euros per driver.
