Mazda will premiere next-generation sub-compact car concept, called Hazumi, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, which opens on March 6.
The name Hazumi is said to be a Japanese word meaning to "bound or spring up."
It was chosen to convey the image of an untamed animal leaping, the company says –fitting for a small car designed to look as if it is literally bursting with energy.
The Mazda Hazumi is said to expresses the ideal form of the company's next-generation sub-compact car.
Also at the Geneva show, Mazda will debut the Skyactiv-D 1.5, a newly-developed small displacement clean diesel engine, which would seem to be a natural fit with the next-generation sub-compact.
