Daimler is recalling some 745,000 cars to deal with sliding glass sunroofs that could detach from their frames and fly off.

The recall affects C-Class, CLK-Class, CLS-Class and E-Class models from model years 2001 through 2011. The issue arises from sunroof glass panels that may not have been properly bonded to the steel sliding frame, potentially resulting in the panel flying off and maybe cause a crash.

Dealers will inspect the bonding between the two components and replace the roof as necessary. Owners who have previously paid for repairs or replacements related to the issue will be able to seek reimbursements from the company.

The company will be sending out notices to owners around the middle of February, asking them to schedule service related to the issue.
