Mini announces JCW Countryman

Newest addiiton to sub-brand is first with four doors, AWD

Mini will add another John Cooper Works model to the line-up with the AWD Countryman, the first for the sub-brand to feature Mini All4 all-wheel drive.

Under the bonnet, a newly developed four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 1.6-litre displacement, 218 hp and 207 lb.-ft. of torque (221 with overboost), the  most powerful powertrain in the Mini model range. The mill features twin-scroll turbocharger, gasoline direct injection and fully variable valve timing based on the BMW Group's Valvetronic technology. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h will take a reported seven seconds.

A range of "Minimalism" technologies are on board too, including brake energy regeneration, auto start-stop function and electric power steering.

Standard is a six-speed manual gearbox, with a six-speed automatic with Steptronic function and steering wheel paddles optional.

Its All4 permanent all-wheel drive is a first for the JWC sub-brand and sitributed power between the front and rear axles via electromagnetic centre differential. Standard are dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, and electronic differential lock control.

Sport stripes in white, black or red are optional.
