Mazda has added more B-Series pickups to the list of vehicles affected by the massive Takata airbag recall that has already touched some 41 million vehicles worldwide.
The company has decided to recall all B-Series pickups from model years 2004-06 that are fitted with driver’s side Takata airbags. The company had previously recalled 2007-2009 B-Series models equipped with passenger’s side airbags. The new recall affects roughly another 19,000 pickups in the lower United States and its territories (Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, and Saipan in the south Pacific).
Although there have been no incidents or injuries related to these model year vehicles (or any other Mazda vehicle named in the recall), the Takata airbag inflator problems are by now well documented.
Mazda vehicles affected by the recall include 2003-2008 Mazda6s, 2004-2009 B-Series, 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6s, 2004-2008 RX-8s, and certain 2004 MPVs.
