Fabled British automaker Morgan has chosen the Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, England, for the global unveiling of its Morgan UK 1909 Selfridges Edition EV3.

Morgan doesn’t release new cars very often, so its latest is cause for celebration and the fact that it’s an all electric car, makes it even more of a special occasion. The 3-wheeler bears obviously hasn’t fallen far from the Morgan family tree, showcasing the best in British fashion, accessories and engineering.

“Hosting the global public unveil of the UK 1909 Edition EV3 further underlines our place and importance within the international luxury automotive events arena,” said Salon Privé co-founder David Bagley. The combination of engineering, style and design seen with the UK 1909 Edition EV3 lends itself to be unveiled at Salon Privé, an event that combines cars, glamour and fashion at one of Britain’s most glamourous locations.”

Only 19 of the handmade cars will be produced, each available with a bespoke driving kit from British design talents such as fashion designer Alexander McQueen, driving-accessories maker Dents, and outerwear producer Belstaff, among others. MSRPs start at £52,500 (about $90,400 Canadian).

The model name is a throw to iconic British brands Morgan and Selfridges, both of whom were established in 1909. Nineteen also refers to the number of cars the two will be lending their names to. The EV3 blends the Morgan engineering with the Selfridges fashion sense, creating a futuristic retro (almost Steampunkish) presentation of style and luxury.

“Great British design, technology and engineering is what the UK 1909 Edition EV3 is all about,” said Morgan Motor Company’s head of design Jon Wells. “We’re delighted to be able to show the car to the world’s press and publicly unveil at Salon Privé in September. Salon Privé combines style, luxury lifestyle and cars in one event, just like the UK 1909 Edition EV3 does.”

The 3-wheeler is capable of a top speed of 145 km/h, and has a range of 193 to 241 km on a full charge.

The leading British luxury event, Salon Privé, is staged from September 1st to 3rd.
