Florida-based Mosler Automotive has been in and out of the performance/exotic car business for more than 25 years, initially operating as Consulier Industries.
It is now offering for sale the Mosler Raptor GTR #001, a one-of-a-kind, mid-engined, carbon-fibre supercar. Its mass is said to be just 1173 kg (2580 lb) and it is powered by an 838-horsepower engine.
The laws of physics suggest it will be fast. It's also good eye candy.
"Due to various circumstances," the company says, only one will ever be built. Read into that statement what you will. Its price tag is (US) $700,000.
In its earlier Consulier incarnation, the company built the outstandingly ugly but dramatically fast Consulier GTP, which earned some glory on the racetrack, but little more. It subsequently morphed first into the Mosler Intruder, then the Raptor.
In 2001, Mosler introduced the MT009 mid-engined supecar, which has also found some racing success, and the company has built a few one-off special project cars since then.
