New Mazda CX-9 to make world debut in Oz

Mazda's biggest CUV/SUV to be shown at 2012 Australian International Motor Show

Mazda has released preliminary details of its refreshed CX-9 crossover SUV, which will have its world premiere at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, in October.

The 2013 CX-9, will be go on sale in Australia later this year. More than 210,000 units of the current model have been sold in 74 countries, including Canada and the U.S.

In its new iteration, Mazda's range-topping SUV entry carries over its core structure and driving attributes but, like other new Mazdas, adopts the "KODO - Soul of Motion" design theme, front and rear.

The company's California Design Studio played a role in the CX-9's redesign.

Features include an infotainment system with the latest audio, navigation and speech-recognition systems based on a Human Machine Interface (HMI) that is intuitive to use.

Advanced active-safety features offered include Forward Obstruction Warning System, Lane Departure Warning System, and High Beam Control System to help drivers recognize and avoid danger.

As with the current model, the 2013 CX-9 is powered by Mazda's MZI 3.7-litre V-6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show opens to the press on October 18, and runs for the public from October 19 to 28, 2012.

The new model is also said to incorporate enhancements in craftsmanship and interior design that elevate its feeling of quality and refinement.
