The production version of Acura's all-new 2014 Acura MDX will be unveiled on March 27, at the 2013 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). A prototype of the new model was revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
Acura says changes to the new model will cement its position as the benchmark in the three-row luxury SUV category.
It features a longer wheelbase that enables improved ride quality, as well as increased second-row legroom and improved third-row seat access.
The new model will be powered by a further derivation of the Honda family's direct-injected 3.5-litre i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM).
As has been the case, the new MDX will feature Acura's SH-AWD system but, for the first time, a 2-wheel-drive variant will also be available.
Signature Acura technologies offered include next-generation AcuraLink Connectivity System and Jewel Eye LED headlamps.
Available driver-assist and visibility technologies include Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, and Blind Spot Information (BSI).
Other safety technologies include available Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems.
In addition, Acura expects the new MDX to achieve a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from NHTSA and a TOP SAFETY PICK rating from the IIHS.
