Add the third-generation Kia Rondo to the long and growing list of new-vehicle introductions scheduled for the Paris auto show – although it won't be called Rondo there. It's known as the Carens in Europe.
Kia says the compact MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) is new from the ground up. Built on an all-new platform, it purports to provide spacious practicality with up to seven seats, combined with a long wheelbase, cab-forward design, and improved aerodynamics.
"(The new Rondo) marks a dramatic shift forward for our MPV contender and brings the model in line with Kia’s distinctive current design direction," says Hyoung-Keun Lee, vice-chairman and CEO, Kia Motors Corporation.
It will appeal to families with an active lifestyle who don’t want to compromise between style and practicality, the company says, expressing confidence that it will attract a new group of consumers to Kia showrooms around the world.
No word yet on when the new model will become available, but the probability is sometime in 2013 as a 2014 model.
