Nissan is the latest in a string of automakers to join forces with Sony PlayStation and its Gran Turismo video game franchise to create a futuristic virtual supercar.
Called the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, the 2+2 virtual supercar is said to provide a vision of what a high performance Nissan could look like in the future.
What's not said is that the next-generation Nissan GT-R would be the logical vehicle for the realization of this exotic design. Especially given that past GT-R and Skyline models have been core players in the Gran Turismo games.
The Concept 2020 was created by a team of young designers at Nissan Design Europe, in London, England.
According to the company, their design was considered to have so much potential that it was given further input from an advanced engineering team based at Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan.
The virtual version of the supercar will be released for download in Gran Turismo 6 in July, but that won't be the end of the story.
As a specialist in automotive design in three-dimensions, Nissan says it believes that the real-world is ready for the Nissan 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Which means a real version of the concept can't be too far away.
