Nissan has announced that its second all-electric vehicle, joining the Leaf, will be a variant of its NV200 compact van, to be called the e-NV200
It will begin production at the company's Barcelona plant in Spain at some as-yet unspecified time within the 2013 Fiscal Year, which could mean as late as early 2014.
The new model will be based on the existing NV200, which is currently produced at the same plant. The NV200 is the basis for what will become New York City's standard taxi cab.
The company says the e-NV200 will provide a functional and roomy interior for both business and families applications. It will retain the many innovative and practical features of the current NV200 lineup, combined with the most advanced powertrain components of the Nissan LeafF.
The Barcelona plant will be the sole producer of e-NV200, supplying all markets around the world.
