The finalists for the 2015 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards were revealed today at an Automotive Press Association luncheon at the Detroit Athletic Club.

The Ford Mustang, Hyundai Genesis and Volkswagen Golf are the three finalists for North American Car of the Year; the Lincoln MKC, Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Colorado are the North American Truck/Utility of the Year finalists.

The six finalists were selected from shortlists of 10 cars and 12 trucks/utility vehicles by a jury of 57 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada. They will now vote again to select the winners from the three finalists in each category.

The will be announced at a press conference at the North American International Auto Show on January 12, 2015.

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was the 2014 North American Car of the Year and the Chevrolet Silverado was the North American Truck of the Year.

Earlier this month, the Genesis, Golf and F-150 were each category winners in the AJAC Canadian Car of the Year competition and are now eligible for the overall car or truck/utility awards in Canada. The winners of those awards will be revealed at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto on February 12, 2015.
