Pirelli adds some sting to off-road truck tires

Scorpion All-Terrain Plus made specifically for North American light trucks

Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus

Pirelli has launched a new Scorpion All-Terrain Plus tire specifically for North American pickups and SUVs, featuring a more aggressive design and tread compound for superior performance on- and off-road.

A newcomer to the Scorpion AT tire line, it will be available in wheel fitments ranging from 16 to 20 inches. Most sizes are available right now, with the full line expected in the third quarter of the year, just in time for winter (appropriate, since the tire carries the 3-Peaks Snowflake, designating it suitable for winter conditions).

The aggressive tread pattern and upper sidewall design not only looks good on a truck, but also provides balanced performance in on- and off-road conditions. The new-generation tread compound optimizes durability, traction and wear, while providing high-resistance to cutting and chipping, and superior traction in mud and snow (thanks in part to deep tread grove and conical pebble ejectors).

Covered by an 80,000 km warranty, the All Terrain Plus joins the all-season line that includes the Scorpion Zero All Season Plus, Scorpion Verde All Season Plus, P Zero All Season Plus and Cinturato P7 All Season Plus.

“Our High-Value strategy calls for the diversification of products and services, based on the needs of specific markets and customer groups within those markets,” said Marco Crola, Chief Executive Officer for Pirelli Tire North America, “The new Scorpion All Terrain Plus, which completes our product portfolio, goes in this direction: meeting the specific needs of pick-up truck and SUV drivers.”

The Pirelli group strategy has led to new cutting edge products and technologies such as Connesso (a mobile app that displays tire performance data gathered via an in-tire sensor) and Cyber Car (which adjusts vehicle settings based on tire data), Color Edition (to personalize tires by matching to complementary vehicle colours), Run Flat and Self-Sealing tires, and the Pirelli Noise Canceling System (an in-tire sponge that reduces road noise transferring to the cabin).
